Nathaniel Weyl, Northern Georgia, 1988

In 1979, I visited Nathaniel and Sylvia Weyl for the first time in Boca Raton. We had many wonderful conversations, and all too soon it was time to go.

"Thank you so much for inviting me," I told them, "I've really had a fabulous time. In fact, this is the most fun I've had in years."

"Well, we're so glad you came," Sylvia said, "because we've really enjoyed having you. And we're going to miss you!"

"I know!" I said, "I'm going to miss y'all, too. God, now I'm going to have to return to my boring and empty life."

"It won't be the same around here after you're gone," Nathaniel said.

Then I glanced upward as my brain processed a thought. "Say, I've got an idea," I said. "Why don't I go home, get all my stuff, move in, and live here indefinitely?"

"Great!" they replied. So I did!
